BRINGING SPONTANEITY TO THE WEB

Many organisations spend lots of money integrating their web designs with their off line branding strategy, but do they integrate their web communication strategy in the same way?

According to Ian McDermott, the Managing Director of the innovative communications company Mexuar, the answer to this question is, in the majority of cases a resounding no!

McDermott commented:
"While nearly all web designers seek to encourage dialogue, using such techniques as emails, on line forms, call back and web chat etc, they all seem to forget that the most powerful communications device of all is the power of speech!"

It is with this in mind that McDermott has just launched his new product, Corraleta Protalk, which tackles this issue head on.

Protalk not just only gives a user a sophisticated communications package, but also gives the opportunity to paste a 'Click to Talk' button directly onto a web site, effectively turning it into a mobile phone.

'Mobile' certainly is the optimum word here, given the clever but really easy to use, call transfer and scheduling service, which is also part of the package.

Said McDermott:
"At Mexuar we believe in simplicity over complexity and also believe in offering real value for money. We recognise that some organisations offer a 'Click to Talk' facility while others offer call transfers. However these can be time consuming and costly to implement, and we believe that none come near to offering the flexibility build into our solution"

And flexible it certainly is!

When a customer signs up to Protalk they are given a 0845 number, which they can also use on all their marketing collateral as well as using it to create a 'Click to Talk' button for the web. Any calls made can then be routed to any one of three chosen phones or voice mail routed to e-mail.

However, as McDermott pointed out
"It's no good routing the call to a different phone if there is nobody there to receive it – this would do nothing to foster good customer relations"

Mexuar have got round this problem by developing the Corraleta call scheduling facility, which is integral to the Protalk solution

The routing of calls via the Corraleta Call Scheduler could not be simpler.

The Corraleta Call Scheduler is unique in that each person, or organisation, can pre-programme where they want their calls to be sent, hour by hour, up to a week in advance. If a persons plans change and they are not near a computer, this does not matter being that they can use a simple IVR alternative, accessed from the nearest available phone.

This level of flexibility means that site visitors can always get the priority treatment they deserve and that this positive experience will encourage them to want come back to the site again and again!

In summing up his philosophy, Ian McDermott said:
"It has always been my vision to bring spontaneity to the 'cyber world' by developing a methodology that enables 'on line' and 'off line' communications to be integrated in a way which puts the customer first. There is a way to go yet, but I see Corraleta Protalk as an important first step along this road"

So, what’s next in McDermott’s quest to integrate 'on line' and 'off line' communications?

It's a case of watch this space!
